Accredo connects to electronic medical records (EMRs) through Surescripts® Record Locator & Exchange services via the Carequality Health Information Exchange network. This allows access to clinical data from a wide range of EMRs and EHRs that participate in Carequality.

In some cases, where permitted by your practice and the payer, Accredo sends the prescription and supporting clinical data to the payer (e.g., ESI or Cigna) to initiate the prior authorization process. By accessing clinical information directly from the EMR, Accredo reduces the need for manual outreach, speeding up PA approvals and prescription fulfillment.

Accredo retrieves essential clinical data from the EMR to support specialty pharmacy enrollment and prescription processing, including:

• Allergies
• Lab and test results
• Diagnosis
• Encounter and progress notes
• Current medications
• Weight and height

This reduces calls and faxes to prescribers and accelerates medication delivery to patients.

Yes. Accredo participates in the Carequality network under strict Connection Terms and Principles of Trust, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other privacy standards. Patient data is securely exchanged using validated identifiers and CCD standards.
