Adagen® (pegademase bovine)
Severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) , also known as "Bubble Boy Disease," is an inherited disease which results in a child being born without a fully functional immune system. People with SCID are unusually susceptible to recurrent infections with bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other infectious agents that can be life-threatening.
There are several types of SCIDs. Each type is caused by a different genetic defect, but the primary symptom is reduced or absent immune functions, and all types are hereditary.
