Adagen® (pegademase bovine) - overview

Adagen® (pegademase bovine)

Overview | Product information | Accredo services | Contact team

Adagen(pegademase bovine) is the only enzyme replacement therapy available for people with severe combined immunodeficiency disease (SCID) due to adenosine deaminase (ADA) deficiency who are not suitable candidates for—or who have failed—bone marrow transplantation.

ADA-deficient SCID is a rare immune system disease caused by a defect in the ADA enzyme, which is needed for the immune system to work properly. Without ADA, toxic substances build up in the body, killing immune cells. As a result, the body cannot fight infections.

Adagen is a prescription medication that restores the ADA enzyme and improves the functioning of the immune system. Adagen has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
